MealMacroCoach is a local-first food and training app from Schill Labs.

What we store

The diary (food logs, workouts, body metrics, water, sleep, the on-device food database, and profile stats) lives on this device — Drift SQLite, excluded from iCloud backup — or, on the website, in this browser until you create an account. Chain menus ship inside the app from official brand PDFs and pages. We do not sell that diary.

Accounts

Accounts are optional. If you sign up we store your email, a password hash, and a cloud copy of the diary you upload so the diary can follow you from iPhone to the website. We do not sell that data.

Barcode lookup

The camera reads packaged-food barcodes so the app can use the product’s Nutrition Facts from USDA FoodData Central Branded Foods and, if needed, Open Food Facts. When you scan or type a barcode, only the digits (not your diary, not a photo) are sent to those public sources. Hits, labels you type, and custom foods are saved in this app’s on-device food database so later scans do not need the network. We do not store camera images. We do not use FatSecret or Nutritionix, and we do not run a cloud food catalog. If both public sources miss, you type the label.

Location and live map

MealMacroCoach uses your location (When In Use only) when you tap Find chains near me, to pin official US chain restaurants near you on the live map. Nutrition still comes from those brands’ own PDFs in the app. The app sends only that latitude and longitude to OpenStreetMap Overpass. Coordinates are not stored in the diary, are not uploaded to Schill Labs, and are not used for tracking or advertising. Nearby-chain chips still work if you decline location. We do not use Google Places, FatSecret, or Nutritionix, and we do not invent nutrition for restaurants that are not in our official catalogs.

Apple Health and Health Connect

On iPhone, with your permission, the app reads workouts, weight, body composition (body fat, waist), sleep, steps, resting heart rate, and water from Apple Health so calorie targets and training plans match what you actually did. Data stays on this iPhone. MealMacroCoach does not write to Apple Health in this version. Health data is not uploaded, not sold, and not used for advertising or data mining. Garmin, Fitbit, WHOOP, Oura, Apple Watch, Strava, Peloton, Withings, Renpho, and similar apps can share into Apple Health; we do not log into those services. On Android, the same types are read from Health Connect. This data stays in the on-device diary. The website cannot read HealthKit. You can turn access off in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.

What we do not collect

We do not collect contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. We do not sell data. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not use the Identifier for Advertisers. We do not run third-party analytics or ad SDKs in this version. We do not upload Apple Health or Health Connect data. Email is collected only if you create an account.

Third parties

USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts receive barcode digits only, to fetch published Nutrition Facts. OpenStreetMap Overpass receives latitude and longitude only when you tap Find chains near me. Apple processes in-app purchases; we do not receive your card number. Schill Labs API stores email, a password hash, and diary sync only if you create an account. Stripe is used for website Premium after sign-in; it is not used inside the iOS app.

Deletion and retention

Deleting the app or clearing this website’s site data deletes the on-device diary. Without an account we cannot restore it. With an account, sign in on a new device to download the cloud copy. You can ask us to delete the account and cloud diary at schilllabs.com/diet.

Purchases

Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple’s App Store on iOS (product IDs diet_app_premium_yearly and diet_app_premium_monthly). New Apple IDs get 7 days of Premium free, then yearly ($79.99/yr) or monthly ($9.99/mo). Apple processes that payment. We do not receive your card number. On the website, Premium is sold through Stripe after you sign in, with the same 7-day free trial on first checkout. Official menus, diet filters, nearby search, barcode lookup, streaks, and Health import stay free.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. App Store age rating is 9+ wellness. The app is not a medical device.
